In a letter sent out to the IGP and seen by PM News, the family alleged that few days ago, they received a letter from an anonymous source asking them to pack out from their present residence within 24-hours or risk being killed.
According to the family members, this has come to them as a rude shock as the deceased had lived a very peaceful life and to the best of their knowledge, was not in any fight with anyone. The letter reads
“We wish to alert the Inspector-General of the police, Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, the Ekiti state government, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), the public including the international community of an imminent death/assassination threat to the family of the deceased. A letter was sent to the family by unknown persons threatening assassination attempt and giving the family a one-day ultimatum to pack out of the house left by the deceased. It is pertinent to note that while the deceased was alive, he had a cordial relationship with everyone. Quite a lot of people including his co-workers and professional colleagues can attest to the fact he lived a selfless life, served humanity devotedly and did everything within his power and according to the ethics of his profession to save a lot of lives even at odd times. It is highly bizarre and unexpected that the family of such a gentle and peace-loving man would receive such threat even while they are grieving. We are particularly concerned about the safety of the family of the deceased and we want to remind the Federal Government, Ekiti State government as well as other other relevant security agencies of their obligations to protect the Nigerian citizens. We hereby urge the Inspector-General of Police, Ekiti State Comissioner of Police, Ekiti State government and other relevant security agencies to swing into action; ensure that thorough and impartial investigations are carried without fear of reprisal attack.”he said
